On May 28th, 2024, we conducted our 3rd masterclass for our Wiltshire College & University Centre sports turf students at Reading Football Club.
The day involved a visit to the stadium, where James Stabler, David Newell, and Sam Ampleford introduced the students to the unique challenges of maintaining a top-tier football pitch. We then relocated to the Bearwood Training Ground, where Scott O’nyons and Matt Gardiner explained the day-to-day maintenance operations required to keep the training pitches in peak condition.
The day ended with a practical line marking session, where the students used the 3-4-5 method to mark out at the training ground – collecting photo and video evidence for their portfolios.
We want to thank Scott and the team at Reading F.C. for allowing us to use the facilities for the masterclass and taking part in passing on knowledge and experience to the students.
