Why did you join the industry?
Started mowing lawns at age 12 for money. I still remember the first time I mowed a lawn for $10 (cash of course). I was offered an apprenticeship after 12 months of casual work at a local course, then just never left the trade.
What’s the best thing you’ve learned during your career?
listen to everyone and take what you need to hear…You don’t have to be an expert at everything but it helps to have a lot of friends who are.
What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve had to face?
Work-life balance.
Best career achievement?
Starting my company GSA with no capital, no machinery, and no contracts.
What keeps you in the industry?
Machinery leases no. Really it’s the sunrise on a golf course when nobody’s around just you and the birds.
What inspiring words would you say to young greenkeepers?
Greenkeeping can take you anywhere in the world…travel while you are young and experience new places whilst expanding your network.
What are your future goals?
Continue to win contracts and give young guys a shot at their dream job. If that means I have to upset the apple cart and poke the big boys so be it.. run the ball.

All sports.. im a sports nut but golf is my passion.

Micheal Jordan.
What’s your dream job?
Outside of turf I always wanted to be a fighter pilot but I’ll settle for a lingerie photographer. Turf related -A super at Any golf course with 3 mechanics and 20 plus staff that has no greens Committee or members and a killer restaurant that feeds the whole shed daily.
What’s your ultimate retirement goal?
Golf one day Fish the next. I think I will always work but the day I get to retire the whipper snipper I know I’ve made it
