On 31 July 2025 at Lantra House in Stoneleigh Park, The GroundsFest Academy hosted its second free educational event as part of its growing initiative focusing on hands-on, community-led learning in the groundscare sector. Robotics & Green Innovations delivered a full day of demonstrations and expert-led sessions on emerging sustainable technologies.

Run in partnership with Husqvarna, Origin Amenity, and Lantra, the CPD-accredited day brought together professionals and groundstaff from all backgrounds to explore the real-world application of robotics and green technology. All attendees received CPD certificates to recognise their participation, and refreshments were provided throughout the day.

The event opened with a welcome from Brad, followed by an informal ice-breaker to assess the group’s experience and backgrounds. Husqvarna led the first session, introducing their latest robotic mowing systems. They demonstrated two different models side by side and gave attendees a close-up look at the underside of the machines, displaying their cutting mechanisms, sensors, and the ongoing maintenance involved in keeping the systems running properly.

After a short break, the next session focused on handheld battery-powered machinery, again with Husqvarna leading the activities outdoors. The group explored practical considerations, including van-based charging setups and equipment storage, as well as day-to-day usability. Participants were then invited to trial the machinery for themselves with hands-on sessions, including a leaf-blowing “football” competition (just for fun!). Attendees were also able to test lawn mowers and strimmers and explore battery management systems for different tasks.

Lunch was served buffet-style before the group reconvened for a session with Origin Amenity. Their robotic line-marking equipment was demonstrated in action as it marked out a mini pitch and created shapes on the grass. The talk also covered nozzle cleaning and machine maintenance, along with different line types for various sporting needs.

For the final session of the day, the group returned indoors for a presentation by Lantra, who spoke about the value of recognised training and certifications when working with robotics and battery-operated tools. Lantra also introduced some of the training pathways available for people looking to gain formal qualifications in this area.

Brad closed the day with a recap activity, inviting everyone to reflect on what they’d learned and receive certificates for their attendance. With another fully booked event now complete, The GroundsFest Academy continues to grow as a source of accessible education in the groundscare industry.
