Acting Operations and Support Manager – Liverpool City Council, NSW
Why did you join the industry?
To work with nature and the climatic conditions, have scope to always have a plan B.
What’s the best thing you’ve learned during your career?
2 years of flood-like weather, making servicing areas and delivering products very hard, especially keeping staff motivated when we were producing a very substandard product.
What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve had to face?
As a younger Greenkeeper working on 1st class wickets and Ovals for state and international cricket.
Best career achievement?
As an older Turf Manager developing skills to oversea large numbers of staff + 150 across large open space areas while staying sane and coherent.
What keeps you in the industry?
I still get a kick out of improving natural open space areas, and working with young turf managers to continually improve themselves both personally and career-wise.
Creating pathways for staff and members still inspires me to stay in this industry.
What are your future goals?
To keep learning to be a better people leader, focussing on more innovation for our industry while also going back to teaching basic agronomy with better sustainable outcomes.

Live 6 months in Australia and 6 months in Europe – Greece / Malta where our family has property chases the sun, and has little or no stress while watching the grandkids grow up – 4 Grandkids currently.
